2013

Assalamualaikum!
I know that it is pretty late for me to actually write my first post of 2013 in May, but oh well better late than never. My wish is that one day my kids could actually read, you know, like a story book of what had happened before they were born, how they were as babies etc. First and foremost alhamdulillah for everything that Allah has granted me. I have just encountered this blogger app and boy tis way cool! Like writing has never been a hastle! One of the major reasons of the large hiatus is because I have rarely used my notebook, and been doing lotsa work with the ipad, but I find that using blog via Safari is a bit hard. Until one day Dr Halina wrote about this app, so here I am!

And then came me!

This post was supposed to be written by Mama 6 months ago. However she was rather busy, and Papa kept on insisting, so I’m writing this on behalf of them instead.

Posted by Hayfa Ibtisam Binti Mohd Ismail :P

19062011 - Mama was a G1P0 woman pregnant at 38 weeks 4 days

300am

It all happened on one fine morning when mama suddenly felt a gush of fluid soaking her bed down under. Twas so massive, she just had to go to the bathroom. Gosh clear liquor was leaking out aplenty, non-stop! Thrilled yet nervous, mama woke papa up from his dreams, only to find out that papa was twice as scared!

So mama called tok mama:

Tok mama: Laaaa ni mesti dah pecah ayaq ketuban nih! Siap cepat kita pi spital.

At first mama was a bit reluctant because the contractions were still mild and irregular, hence she would be admitted as PROM<18H (mama malas nak duduk wad lama-lama sebab hari-hari pergi wad T_T).

So she called the PAC.

Mama: Salam nak tanya, HO mana oncall PAC eh sekarang?

JM: Dr Aliah

Mama: Ok, terima kasih! Saya dah LL (leaking liquor) lah akak, huhu

Dr Aliah was mama’s friend, and a very good doctor, so mama agreed on going early.

430am

Mama, papa, tok abah and tok mama (and me!) arrived at the PAC. Obviously there were no other patients, so Dr Aliah attended to mama stat.

Dr Aliah: Clear liquor demonstrable, tapi os still closed lah Sarah (which meant that ‘the door’ was still closed). Sarah kena admitlah ye macam biasa J

Mama: Huahuaa malasnyeee…okay takpe-takpe J

So after all the examinations etc, 600am mama was sent to Bed 2, Ward 5E. Tok abah and tok mama went back home first, and papa accompanied mama up to the ward. He also bought mama 2 pieces of roti canai (tiba-tiba mama mengidam roti canai T_T).

Hour by hour the contractions were getting regular and stronger. By 12 noon, they were 2:10:20. Dr Zulida the Specialist oncall made a VE, and it was already 2cm, but the cervix was still thick. She did an S&S (sweep and stretch). Mama was also given ampicillin (even though HVS was negative, Dr Zulida insisted on it as doctors turn out to be one of the major GBS carriers, hence, just to be on the safe side).

1500

The contractions were getting stronger as ever. Mama timed them by herself; it was already 3:10:30. The pain was soooo unbearable, she just had to call the nurse. Dr Norliza the new MO made a VE.

Dr Norliza: 3cm, effaced lah Sarah! So saya suruh diorang push awak ke LR ye!

Mama: Ooooo…kkkayyy *gulp*

Mama was pushed down to the LR with a very tight face! 1630hrs, Dr Ain the MO oncall made a VE: 4cm it was. Mama was given IM Nubain.

However the contractions were sooooo painful; she just had to sniff Entonox PRN – and mama became sooooo high on entonox! Sampai papa pun takut T_T

But the pain was soooo irresistible, sampai mama cakar-cakar tangan papa, so Dr Ain offered to mama epidural analgesia.

1800hrs

Mama agreed, and dad signed the consent, but just as the anesthesiologists were about to explain the procedure what not, the JM in charge VEed; “Dah 7cm lah doktor!”.

Mama: Haaaa cepatnya! (Mama cuak gile okay!)

Well the contractions were 4:10:30, and mum felt so restless, and before you knew it, the JM screamed: “Dr dah fully!!!!!”.

In came Dr Liyana the HO oncall (as Dr Ain was rather busy).

Dr Liyana” Okay Sarah, ingat macam mana awak suruh patient push, macam tula jugak awak buat ye. 1, 2, 3, teraaaaaammm!!!”.

The 2nd stage was rather quick. After 4-5 pushes I finally came out. Phew!

Everything was different outside the door. I remembered laying down on mama’s chest, and then they handed me to papa. I heard papa recite the athan, MashaAllah it was beautiful J.

2200hrs

Mama and me were pushed upstairs to Ward 8B Bed 8. Tok mama, tok abah and paksu Ariff were all excited, waiting. After some hugs and kisses, they went back home, leaving papa, mama and me.

The coming day the rest of the family came to see me; Makngah Hani, Makteh Mira, Makcik Nisa, Atok, Opah, Paklong Hussin, Pakngah Hassan, Makngah Min and Maksu Nurul…and many other friends of mama and papa. I felt so blessed J.

* * *

Well that was what had happened 6 months ago. Sorry for the humongous hiatus! It was just that, mama said she just has to publish this asap. She wants all of my milestones recorded virtually.

To date, I am trying hard to crawl, which is rather difficult. Everyone is urging me to crawl fast! I could also recognize faces now, and I cry when unfamiliar faces pop in sight. I eat rather a lot, like 2 full bowls of porridge and some Farley’s biscuits per day (I weighed 6.6kg when I was 6 months old, can’t wait to see how much it’d be for the next check up!). Mummy has already taught me to sleep in my own bed J And yes I think I could understand adult language now, haha!

May Allah bless mama and papa and everyone around me ^___^

Double the joy!

Alhamdulillah. Yesterday two great news came dangling in altogether. Thank You Allah for your endless blessings. Just couldn't be more thankful. =)

To cut things short, we have been posted to Hospital Serdang (smile!). Hubby is now tagging along in Medical Department, and wifey is posted to Orthopedics. InshaAllah the best departments for us to start internship.

Another news is...well let's just hold it for a while, shall we? Save the best for the last *wink*wink*

Blissfully Married.

Salam.

I know this post is rather late for such an announcement, but this is it:

I AM HAPPILY MARRIED =)

The wedding went well alhamdulillah, and we had a fabulous honeymoon in Perth =).
Sekarang tengah kumpul duit untuk tunaikan haji pula.
We're done with the SPA interview, and are currently waiting for the induction call. Should be sometime after raya inshaAllah. Yup been pretty nervous to face the two years of total suffering, but being jobless is no good either.

Doakan segalanya berjalan lancar.

Come, let's seek for the auspicious night of Lailatul Qadr! =)

Cry me a river T_T

6 years of studying in Ukraine has definitely taken it's toll on me. Despite the banes and menaces, I have a feeling that I'd be missing this place pretty much. On top of it all, would be the precious moments I had had with my friends who have been with me through thick and thin. Thank you peeps (you know who you are) for being such a sport. You guys, I'd surely miss forever =)

Does anyone know any swimming classes in bangi? Pretty please leave a message/comment if you do..thanks!! =)

The Carpathian Mountains

The Carpathian Mountains are a chain of mountains that stretch from the Czech Republic to Slovakia, Romania, Poland, Hungary and Ukraine. The total length of the Carpathians is over 1500km, it's highest range being 8705 feet above sea level. Some of the people speak a rather unheard-of language such as Transcarpathian, while others remain using their respective mother tongues. Temperature ranges from as low as -15 celcius during winter, and 20 celcius in July (summer).

Amongst the many villages alongside, one of them is Slavske. This is the place where we spent our winter hols ^__^

To get to the destination, we had to take a train from Simferopol to Lviv which took us 26 hours HAHA imagine that! All our muscles were cramped and ached galore~

Initially the plan was to go skiing; however Allah had other plans, and so on the day we arrived the snow was starting to melt. So instead of skiing, we hopped on to the 2600m long cable car to get to the top of the mountain which stood 1230m above sea level.

The cable car ride upwards

A cottage that sits on on top of the mountain

The view from above MashaAllah was fantastic! Subhanallah *speechless*

We also had a few horse rides, and built a little snowman ^__^

Sometimes it felt like we were sooo close to the sun! Even two layers of gloves and thick socks weren't enough to counterfeit the frosty coldness.

The ride downwards

After the ride downwards, we strolled along the little bumpy roads and shopped at some souvenir stalls. The folks here were rather friendly and felt enthused to encounter such visitors from as far as Malaysia! Hohoho.

During our stay there we spent three nights at Fayno Cottage. It was a very small yet homey cottage, which not only has Disney Channel, but also a sauna! Pampering your body with the blazing sauna heat after a long cold day is sooo soothing I tell you..yippie!

After three nights spectating the sunrise and sunset between the mountains, we headed back to Lviv and spent a night at the Ukrainian Home Hostel; a very Europe-like hostel that rated highest at http://hostelbookers.com . We had a tour around the city; it reminded me most of Poland due to the similarity of its architecture elements.

The following day it was toodles for Lviv. Thank You Allah for the chance You gave us to explore something so spectacular.

Goodbye everyone! Till we meet again ^__^

Wassalam...

2009 End of Year Summary.

Assalamualaikum...

So the first semester of my final years have actually ended (yikes!) and I am in the middle of the winter hols, and am trying to use it to the utmost fruitfullest before classes start. Flakes of snow has just started dribbling all over Crimea with a mean temperature of -5 celcius; hence the polar-hibernating-mode of most students.

Okay, this isn't actually in Crimea. This is somewhere on top of the Carpathian Mountains. InshaAllah details will be in the next post.

To begin with (actually, I don't know how to begin with..the hiatus has been so long!) I'll start by showing you some of this year's Eid's pictures. This year's event was rather simple, as only two batches of Malaysian students were left. Nonetheless, it also bridged the gap between all Muslim students worldwide.

Awk, newly-weds Iqbal-Sakiey and me

We also spent a night at the ambassador's (her cooking's are awesome! Taraf 5-star hotel gitu) and went to Auntie Rose's open-house. And yes, filled our little tummies to the max.

Some weeks later we spent the end of autumn by hiking up Red Cave and had a wee picnic nearby the waterfalls over there. And well wadya know - they have camels here in Ukraine! Hahaha.

2009 also marked a gloomy day for us Othman's too. For our beloved Maklang passed away after 2 years suffering IV stage of Colon Cancer. What made me shed tears the most was that she also made my hantaran decorations beforehand - "takut tak sempat nak buat nanti" katanya. Huhu. May Allah bless you among the mu'mineen my dearest Maklang. We will always miss you. And thank you so much for beautifying the house galore on my engagement day ;) .

Beloved Arwah Maklang & Me on the day I got engaged

Okay..so there you go with part I.

1st of November, 2009.

The whole of CSMU was startled with a shocking news. 3 weeks of quarantine holiday has been imposed to all public authorities and educational institutions nationwide. 3 weeks?! Uhuhuh. After the announcement, I stared at the wall, blank for like, almost an hour. Called mum, she insisted I fly back home (abah sponsor ticket! hehe). And so that was how the next events took place.

At first there was the 'Sirih Pulang ke Gagang' SMAPK Alumni Reunion - calling all ex-students from the very first to the latest batch. What made me a wee bit sad was that me and Mokcique were the only girls of my batch that came up (where were all the other kids?). To think that I had just arrived from Ukraine the night before, after nearly 13 hours of flight and two transits, and yet I still urged myself to come - ah, you do the calculation. Good thing I got to meet a lot of my teachers - they really did make my day, alhamdulillah ;)

Ah, yes. My first Raya at home, at my kampung, at long last (walaupun raye haji je)! After 6 very long years whoa. And to make things more momentous, it may be the last of me as a single lady (T_____T but hehehehehe :D)

Anisa, me and Ariff

Jolok rambutan! ngenge~

Nyummie nyummie nyum nyum!

Next comes the best part of all. Abah gave a green light to let me and mama visit Hani at Bandung! Yippie yeayeayeay~. We spent three nights at the Horizon Hotel, and spent one whole day shopping at Pasar Baru and the designer's outlets. The best thing was that I got to buy myself a burkhini - sangat murah okay di sini! Huahuahua~

Tengok-tengok kain

Me and Hani in front of her hostel

Mama and me <3

Oh yes and I am sooo into the Nasi Padang here..finger-licking good! Low in triglycerides too ^__^

So there goes my 3 weeks of so-called H1N1 hols. Spent it to the fullest, I believe!

Part II

Arrived Ukraine safely, alhamdulillah. To replace the missed classes, we had to attend them on saturdays. Not bad after all. But they did not erase winter hols from the calendar. Hence we had a week of winter hols, and so one day me and my friends thought of having a one-day trip to Dnipropetrovsky, a quite modern city that sits halfway between Kiev and Simferopol. It was rather tiring because we walked all day long soaked wet and cold after a 9-hours train-ride. Therefore not much pictures could be appreciated. On the other hand, it was the first time we celebrated New Year's eve in the train. It even stopped at the strike of 12, all lights went off, and from afar we could see fireworks coloring the midnight sky! Subhanallah, it was spectacular I tell you. Alhamdulillah ^___^

Something heartrending did come up before the end of 2009, I must say. Our beloved Ustaz, Dr. Sheikh A'lauddin, a Palestinian, passed away due to Chron's Disease. He was the 'ustaz' of my usrah, and he also used to give 'kuliyyah Jumaat' talks every friday evening. Dr. A'la was also a 'tahfeez', an imaam, and his Quranic recitations were sooo lovely MashaAllah. Recently he was rather preoccupied with his specialization in Cardiology, so we didn't really get to see much of Ustaz during his last days. Ustaz did leave a gem of his own; a 3 months old fetus in his wife's womb ;)

Alhamdulillah, I have no regets of 2009. Looking forward to a better 2010 and 1431 Hijriah, (and a better looking figure too hahaha :P) inshaAllah. Happy New Year everyone! ^__^

Busy as a beaver!

Salam

Goodness, sorry people! Apologies for the verryyy BIG _______________________ gap. So much has been happening past the three months, and frankly speaking things have been rather hectic! Busy bee has indeed bitten the best out of me hoho. To cut things short, I have just arrived from home after a month's vacation due to the H1N1 quarantine imposed upon Ukraine which had all public authorities and educational institutions closed for three weeks. And now we're back on track!

Most readers (eceh macam banyak je) insisted upon a new post. Some even thought that this blog has found its D-day! Haha mane bole God Willing I want my kids to see the river that I have been cruising all along. Well as the Malay saying goes; tak menang tanganla! But insyaAllah the author will try to put up her utmost effort to fill in this verryyy BIG gap _____________ once the New Year Hols begin.

A sneak peek at what has been going around:

Till then, toodles! ;)
